This is on a 383 distributor, the 440 one has a plug in it. Not sure if it can be removed without damaging it.

Ok, interesting. I just assumed that all the housings that had the cast-in tube got the trap door. Thanks.

YEs a oil fill, the shaft will not wick oil up from the drive gears splashing. Have to go to the shop to ID it.

I concur wholeheartedly......just an old "Plain Jane" distributor.....not special....unless you need one....
