I am crashing trying to get this back together before it goes off to interior shop. I finally have the vacuum all hooked up to the new switch and all the modes work correctly with the buttons!! Unfortunately the two wires to the heater vacuum switch were disconnected when I took it apart - so my question before Anthony Powell just called me WAS going to be which wire goes to which side of the switch but now I know that it doesn't matter because there is just a make or break switch inside there. So I'll leave this here in case anyone else runs into this. The switch Anthony shipped me seems fabulous by the way

He does a very nice job on the switches.

Just wanted to say thank you again to everyone that chimed in to help me with the heater controls. Anthony's rebuilt switch is a work of art and everything in the heater system works perfectly now. I don't think it has worked properly since my brother brought the car from CA in about 1977. All the modes work, the fan has three speeds, and the temperature gets hot and cold with the knob. The "cool" mode that brings unheated air into the cabin with that bottom duct pointed straight out is a beast. Thanks again!!!

I haven’t removed my heater box as of yet but I’m sure it’s going to need a water valve and a new heater core. I already have a vacuum valve from Anthony but still need to check the vacuum actuators and fan motor.

When my brother brought the car back from CA about 45 years ago someone had bypassed the heater core. We blew a little compressed air through it and flushed it when we hooked it up two years ago and now the original core and valve and thermostatic stuff seem to work like new.

My car was originally sold in California and then about 20 years ago it went to Las Vegas where it stayed until 2 years ago. There were no hoses attached to the heater when I purchased the car and being that the car isn’t driven in cold weather it didn’t concern me due to having bigger fish to fry at the time. At some point I will remove the heater unit and work on it but for now I have a few other things to finish on the car.

Are parts available to rebuild these?
Seems it only needs a seal inside.

Who's this Anthony Powell? I am trying to figure out the heater controls on my 65 Belvedere wagon and it's a mess. Do you have any pics or a diagram?

Maybe this will help - sorry for the bad printing. If your 65 is like our 64 this will work. You need to make sure your vacuum connector is good and that all the nipples on the back of the switch are good. If the nipples are shot you should probably send the switch to Anthony Powell. As far as the WIRES go there are two - and it DOESN"T MATTER which way they go as it is just a open closed switch inside.
