On the idea of preparedness, I was thinking "What are some things I should keep in my daily driver at all times?"

Currently, in my daily driver:
- 1/2 gallon of coolant
- 1 quart of engine oil
- cell phone charger
- state map
- spare tire and factory jack

Now that I typed it up, I realized... I don't sh!t.

What do you keep in your car? Any suggestions?

FIRE EXTINGUISHER! 20 years on a rural fire department; I know what I'm talking about.

Sounds like you need to get off the internet and get to a doctor....or you're gonna end up wondering why you're getting larger..

YES a fire extinguisher!!!

And.....
A small tool box with tools (hammer, pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers)
Duct tape
Baling wire
Wood blocks to secure car/truck when jacked up
Tow strap and shackles (in the truck to pull people out of the ditch in winter)
Blankets (gets cold up here in winter)
AR or AK (depending on the mood I am in) and hip hugger (44 or 45, again depending on mood)

Around town? Just my insurance & registration, road trips are a totally different story!

This guy. He rides in my car all the time. He was made for my grandmother by a dear friend of mine over 30 years ago. My grandma loved squirrels, and he has very special meaning to me. He rode in my GTX for almost 25 years, and is now a permenamt resident in the Roadrunner. His name is Chucky, and he is made of pipe cleaners. My brother has one in his car as well

I like this a lot. Very helpful

25ft tow chain, window glass breaker/seat belt cutter, road flares, "space blankets", first aid kit, jumper cables, shopping bags, blankets, roll of duc tape, super glue, basic tool kit, bottle of oil, gallon of drinking water and road maps. Also waterproof matches, drinking water magic straw, flint and striker. And a safety orange vest and gloves.

Hot damn! That's a good list

Add these to the list:
At least one flashlight
Tire plug kit
Buck knife and case cutter

Which extinguisher do you recommend? And where would I find it?
Having a history with fire protection and training, using an extinguisher is a quick deal when it’s spent. For most uses an ABC is common. But, for a car where most fires are gas or electrical, a BC. Dry powders make a nasty-nasty friggin mess and will skank paint. The selection is long and suggest searching the net for recommended ext for cars. You can read up on the pros & cons. I’d say no less than 15lbs for a size. They discharge in under 15 seconds and that’s the shot hoping the fire is out..

That's helpful thank you!

Yeah, AAA has come in handy a number of times, like two weeks ago when the trunion boot went to chit. Could not figure out what was causing the banging under the car after crawling under it and didn't think driving it 35 miles back home was a great idea, even though it would a been ok to do. Different sich when parked on a road. Good tips here from members though! One time a hose went and some duct tape and water got me back home.
AAA card is all I need.

I don’t know I’m doing it, but apparently I keep dust in my cars. Every week or so, I find dust on the dashboard and other surfaces inside the car.
