I went to a local car show today and received the following comments-

1. "Three or Four?" I answered, "3 or 4 what". He said "3 or 4?" I again asked, "3 or 4" what? He then said, "383 or 440". I answered, "It's a 440". He then said, "3 or 4 is a Mopar thing," he then walked away.

2. A guy walked up with a teenage boy, looking at my car said, "Satellite". He looked around my car and told the boy, "that's the only Ford that I like".

3. A guy walked up and said, "Is that a 440 or a 383?". I answered it's a 440. He then said, "Is it really or are you just telling me that?" I told him, "It's a 440." He looked at me and walked away.

People are funny. (weird)!!!!

A guy looked over my car recently. He says….
I had one just like this.
But it was red,
And it was a 4 door,
And it had a slant 6,
And it was a 66.
:realcrazy:

Where was the show? I live in Rancho Cucamonga.

The response to
#1 "another Mopar thing is being able to tell the difference between a 383 and a 440 without asking"
#2 "it's the only Ford I like also, and it's not even a Ford, so I guess I don't like any Fords.
#3 "I'm sorry I meant a 340"

Car show idiots LOL.
Talked my friend into taking his original '68 Hemi Roadrunner to a show once..once...he was (still is) the original owner of this car. Bought it in late '67, raced it at E-town for a few years, then loaded up the family and drove it out here to CA when he was transferred to Castle AFB in the 70's.
Car's never been repainted or 'restored', still driven and hammered on (not bad for a guy in his 70s!) and you wouldn't believe the comments by the mowrons at the 'all mopar' show.
"Oh...it's automatic"
"Man...too bad it's silver"

I said more than once that day, "which car out here is yours?"

My car is NOT anything show-worthy. I've taken it to a couple though, more for the fun and gathering than anything..I've had these no-car-havin' fools say stuff like, "why would anyone paint their car white?"
My answer was...gee I dunno, why don't you ask Chrysler...(my car still wears the factory paint)..

Mopars a more rare vehicle, so people without knowledge are interested, but don't know enough about them to ask a question that might be of interest to someone who does know Mopars.

People can say stupid stuff when they are reaching. I've had someone ask: why would anyone order a Hemi with a column shift auto... 'cause they are easy to drive and go like hell?

I don't get offended typically at shows - hell, each time I see it as an opportunity to have a little fun
with the cretins. :)
95% of the time though, there's nothing uttered other than compliments and/or a "story" to go with
the visit.

There's still a little respect in these parts...

My favorite ones are the guys that bitch young guys aren’t into cars. Then they bitch about the young guys that have cars there. No I’m not defending the ricer crowd, just the guys that are lucky enough to be able to own an older car, even if the paint isn’t as nice, or it’s a 4 door.

Kinda sounds like you're "bitchin" about old guys?

A few classics I remember over the decades....
"My aunt had a Plymouth station wagon with a 383 Hemi"
"I had one of these back in the 70's. I remember getting it up to 150 on this back road"
"Did you buy this new?" (I would have been 1 year old at the time)

My favorite from the past few years was when my son was showing his 72 Duster, 4 speed car.
A young 20 something gal came up to the car, looked inside, turned to her father and said "Dad, why does it have 3 pedals?".
The father looked at my son and I with a "I'm sorry" look on his face.

I blurted out "It's a millennial anti theft device!" The father got a good laugh out of it.

So you look old to him
