MCACN - Chicago

My God sounds like old ladies at the weekly bridge game getting worked up about something trivial some neighbor they hate did.
That nasty Mr Smith on the corner put dog dish caps on his vintage Plymouth, bad enough his dog barks too much and his kids run through our yards, but this is the last straw!!
Take a bottle of Midols and get over it….
Sorry but pictures of amazing car after amazing car with those crappy *** wheels on them irks the living **** out of me! Most of those car didn't come that way from the factory, and the ones that did had them removed by day one or two of ownership. The next stupid trend will be owners with man buns!

I put a red circle dogdish on the ‘450 you sold me years ago!
I wish I had enough hair to grow a man bun. Not that want one but anything looks better than then follicular mess I was cursed with.

I tried to make this more readable. The story of the green and blue ‘71 Hemi Chargers is really cool.

I think there might have been an article in one of the car magazines some time ago about the green one. If so, it was owned by a fellow in Saskatchewan.

@XS22J8R the display that you put together was great, nice turnout and a nice representation of the period.

I found a whole set of 450 wheels in the wheel pile behind my garage, when I heard that people were paying stupid money for them,I sold them. No way was I putting them on any of my cars.

Mopar muscle is always well represented at that show, thanks for sharing the pics...

Well don't be like me I would put dog dish on everything I mean everything but now I'm doing mags and steelies on everything I only seem to have pairs no sets ,next it will be full wheel covers .I do like 68 RR full covers...

I'm very happy that this car is gonna be restored!! It looks better and like there was no real damage from 6 feet away, but up close it looks like it should from a storm like that and worse than I thought

They sure attract some high caliber cars. Good to see the orange Superbird out for display.
However....That show seems more like a walk through a museum than a show.
This may appeal to many but I don't care much for shows where you can't walk around all the cars and see them from all angles.
We have an annual "Autorama" here in nearby Sacramento. I've had my car there with our Sacramento based Mopar club. It is usually the same....a group of cars in a row with ropes around them.
That isn't much fun but I understand the reasoning. Ignorant adults and misbehaving kids can be a problem.
Actually, you can walk around a lot of the cars, but some are more roped off.

Thank you for all the pictures, I wanna go so bad to that show some day but all the cars that show up there are 2nd to none
You know, what makes this show worth the $30. admission for me is most of the cars have an interesting story. They aren't just premium restored examples of valuable cars. That, and the chance to see a lot of really cool historic race cars. There's always a theme or multiple themes. In 2018, they were featuring the '68 Hurst Hemi Darts and Barracudas for the 50th anniversary. Really cool to see so many originals of those. Hearing the old racers talk as a panel discussion is another neat thing.

12 of the 75 '71 Hemi Charger RTs were exported to Canada. Both of these cars were among 6 of them exported to a dealership in Medicine Hat, Alberta. They rolled of the assembly line together - one vin number apart. Both ended up back in the USA, but one made it's way back to Canada in 2016. The display card says this was the first time they were reunited since new at the dealership in '71

It was originally an all Mopar show, and Bob Ashton, the main guy behind the whole thing, is a Mopar guy. At some point it was opened up to all makes.

A couple of others (non-Mopars).

This is Herb McCandless’s car. It scored 1000/1000 in judging. Vin number 1.

Looks like Herb may have had a couple other of his cars restored by Whitehall. They're only a few miles from me & I've never heard of them.

Here's a hour long video:

Kern- you identified the problem immediately. We were at the end of the superbird display next to the reliable truck. Saturday afternoon some clown and his kid decided to climb into my buddy's Challenger. My buddy saw this occur and blasted him in front of his kid. Of course, there was no barrier on that side of the car. Sunday, the prick comes back and claims he's going to open the hood today. Humans. Eventually, they finally put up the barrier. It did seem that you could still get up pretty tight on the cars. Just our experience.
