Hey there . Wondering how I decode a vin number for my engine block .
Drivers side reads 3698830
Passenger side bottom of block by oil pan reads 4c112537
Also wanting to know the 5R means on the front of the block

On the ID tag inbetween the timing cover and intake manifold reads 4T 440 E or F

Post the rest of the numbers.
 
4Cxxxxxx are the last digits of the Vin of the car it was installed in. 4 is for 1974, C is the Jefferson plant, which only built c-body big cars in 74, so your 440 is a non-hp new Yorker engine, or something similar. 8 to 1 compression ratio, maybe.
