who restores 1970 heater control valve?

ac heater control valve,I did talk to Jim Tucker at HEATER VALVES in Cal said 2 months out and only replaces the seal. Anyone else restores them?

I bought the seal kit and restored it myself, but wasn't happy that the valve seal. It didn't seal completely. It allowed some air to leak by under low pressure so a made a new seal out of some rubber I had. And now it seals under a higher pressure and even holds a vacuum. I don't want ANY hot water circulating when my a/c is on.
It wasn't difficult to rebuild. You might want to try it yourself.

I sent mine to Old Air Products. Turnaround was about 2 weeks and they did nice work. I’d recommend.
 
Its was done more then a year ago,thinking around a $100-$150. If it was crazy money I would of remembered.
 
I think a NOS one is about $275 on flea bay, so need to weigh up options. I also vote for trying to rebuild it yourself before sending it out.
