i own a 68 Hemi Charger original. I rebuilt its trans and used original discs and never had any slippage in shifts. The discs i am looking for has a different coating on the faces than the standard discs. If rebuilding a trans do you use Chinese junk parts in your trans? I know the parts Mopar Chrysler made are not Chinese junk. I rebuilt 2 torque flite in 2 different cars so far and had no problems with the trans and using MOPAR parts. Thanks for your interest. What brand of repair parts do you use? Are you satisfied with the rebuild quality of the parts and gaskets? Also I am just a guy who likes to rebuild my cars. I have never worked as a auto mechanic. I was a union pipefitter Bob Horman

Bob, I'm a retired UA Steamfitter, small world. I use Transtec seals and gaskets that come in the TranStar kits I buy. I usually spec Borg Warner frictions in stock/lower performance builds, Eagle frictions and Kolene steels in high performance units.

I rebuilt my ORIGINAL 68 HEMI trans in 1992 and have put 25000 plus miles and car shifts like it should. I like original parts because I believe Chrysler Corp had parts made in the United States between 1968 and 1980 quality control was better than parts made in the last 20 years. Chrysler mechanics working in dealer ships using CC parts ordered thru dealer parts department did a good job fixing the cars.

This thread is a perfect example of why comments are against sale rules. If Robert wants specific parts and you have them, comment and send him a PM. Otherwise just scroll on by.
