My new hood ornament.......and didn't even have to bolt it down!

Had it been sitting for a bit? Mine will sit but usually not for more than 3 or 4 days. Do ya have rabbits around too?

Yes it would sit for awhile now and then. First I noticed something tore up the insulation on the firewall. Then a week or two later I noticed more insulation torn off and it was packed under the back of the plenum. Cleaning it out and noticed the damage to the wiring. After I fixed it I started treating under the hood with Spearmint extract. Didn't have a problem after that.

The truck sat outside in front of the garage facing away from the garage. Normally they like a more secure location but not this one. I had seen him going up under the truck several times. The ones I have out back living in a big Silver Maple are pretty tame. I have a perch on the tree that I'll screw an ear of field corn on when it starts getting cold out. I'll spread some around the tree now and then. There's a young one who isn't afraid of me at all.

Neighbor and I talking between our houses and this one comes over to see what's going on.

These two were fighting over a nut. The crow managed to get it away from the squirrel but the squirrel went after him and got it back. All the crow could do was to sit there and watch.

Yes I got rabbits.

And Mallards in the neighbors pool.

And big Hawks that do manage to catch a squirrel, rabbit or bird now and then.

Yeah, I saw a couple of them going under the beater and I made sure they weren't doing anything more than just using the ground under it to go somewhere else. All of my other vehicles sit in the garage and so far so good with that. And that's kinda cool to see 'ducks on a pond' but man, they can make a mess. Duck soup anytime soon?? :D

No, the neighbors tried placing a couple of fake owls around their pool. That worked for a little while but they soon got used to them. It wasn't until they got a large blow up alligator to float around in the pool that they went away.

LOL!!!! Yeah, anything that moves a bit will usually do the trick. Fake owls around a garden works for about 2 days. A neighbor tried that and well, he didn't listen when I told him unless he moved them around, the birds would get used to them doing nothing. Freakin mocking birds here used to be......hellashish! A relative in the country had a fairly large garden that was under a chain link fence and the mocking birds were still getting through it. After all, chain link is kinda big enough for young mocking birds but his garden was growing like a weed. I asked him how was that possible since chain link fencing isn't all that effective and about the same time I asked, I heard a .22 fire off that was up in the woods. When I looked back at him, he had a big grin on his face. I didn't say another word since the mocking bird is the.....state bird.....LOL

The coyotes keep the resident squirrel and rabbit population thinned out, sadly.
In fact, you can generally tell the location of the coyote pack by the yard rodent activity up here.

The exception to this rule is, of course, the fox squirrels - coyotes don't mess with 'em.
Y'all might remember me telling stories about those critters - I've seen 'em eat pressure treated wood.
Not just chew on it....EAT it.
One of them pays a pretty daily visit to me on the front porch and will often sit on the rail and stare at
me through the window, cocky bastard - until I started coming out the door with the Mossy, that is.
It's as if he knows....

When we lived in NJ they would knock on the storm door if my wife ignored them while she was working. If she still didnt look up they would stare at her from the flower box in the window until she opened the door and handed them a peanut.
They don't seem to like it if you hand them a spicy peanut though.

They can be a real pain if they work their way into your homes attic - especially if they have a litter in it. We just had 3 trapped out of a homes attic we are trying to get ready to sell as part of an estate. We‘ve heard that if they are born in the attic they will always be trying to get back in it due to some sort of homing instinct.

Also had a friend with a 2 story house with gutters who had a squirrel that would sit in the gutter and gnaw on outer edges and hole them - trying to keep its front teeth short I guess. I loaned him a pellet rifle and he climbed up and applied some bobcat urine to them and I guess he finally got rid of it.

They got under the hood of my 03 Dodge Ram and chewed the wires off to the two rear fuel injectors. That was a fun splice job.
same here , chewed up the fuel line under hood ! luckily i found a used one .

We were moose hunting in Canada, 20 miles off the main drag. Those little fox squirrels would sit in those trees and let the whole world know, we were there.
