I smell like Ben Gay

You mean Mike Hunt. I believe he's a cousin of Ben Dover, and his sister Eileen Dover.

Try voltaren. I use it on my knee every day and it keeps me moving. No smell.

Mainly for use after longer than anticipated side-effects of Viagra.......and the ladies love that fresh minty taste.
Well it does relieve joint stiffness and swelling, so there is that.
Just watch out for the side effects:
-Peculiar urges and attractions to equine facilities and banjo music.
-Wash hands thoroughly, and use gloves. Loss of feeling, loss of layers of skin, and unwanted hair growth may occur in the affected area.
-and as always a sometimes lethal infection of the perineum may occur.
-Enjoy!!

so I'm in the shop doing my thing...... on a ladder, awkwardly leaning over a Road Runner drilling holes and stuff; basically "gettinerdone"........

I come in the house for a break and plop my butt down for a few minutes , lean over to turn on a fan and hurt my back

at first I was stuck but managed to get to Rebel's sofa........ I got my *** up after about an hour and walked out to the shop.....

it's not as bad as I first thought; but it's light duty for the next few days :BangHead:

I normally don't have back issues, but this isn't the first time either

last time I think I was tying my boot

Years of construction have taken a toll on me to the point where I suspect that I've created wear/damage that is just lurking, waiting for even a minor move to go from lurking to real pain that puts me on the couch.
It is like only a few strands of fiber hold me together and something as simple as a turn, a step, even picking up something of little weight is just enough to send me over the edge. Most of the time, I walk around pain free. There have been times that I've worked myself so hard, I expect to hurt later but usually don't. When I do get a flare up......
I've taken Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Flexoril, rarely ever Vicodin or anything "narcotic".

no narcotics or opioids here....... I'm not going down that road

based on my track record, I'll be full speed in a few days....... I think I can function somewhat, I'm gonna find out

Hate to open a can of worms.. do you ever go to the back- crackers??

tell ya what.......where my thumb joins my hand has been an issue the last few weeks; that stuff calmed it down pretty good

the patch is for my neck, it messing with my sleep
For arthritis Voltaren cream works good for me. Took prescription Voltaren pills when my knees were hurting. They delayed replacement for 6 months. Amazon sells it.

I think this stuff lies in wait for anyone who has made a living involving physical work. I used to pound on the side of a dry bulk tanker for hours with no consequences. That was no longer an option when I retired at 69. The other day I got a lightning bolt up my arm, reaching at a bad angle while scooping the cats' litter box. Getting really careful becomes a habit after you go through enough of such events.

no..... I'm good 99.9% of the time.....

but it sucks right now
It is different for everyone..... BUT.....

The best way to prevent a back injury is to have excellent core strength.
You maintain, or get, core strength by doing sit ups, or crunches(whatever they are called) at least.
If your gut is in good shape it will support your entire torso and this takes the strain off your back.

Note: you do not need to be thin to have a strong core. A layer of "padding" over a tuned up gut is just fine. It's the underlying strength that matters. It get's harder to maintain the older you get though.
