Water leaks

Dead Dodge Garage just had a YouTube video showing that cowl drains being clogged can cause the leaking you describe. Worth watching if anything just for the educational value.

I have not used it but I’ve heard this flowable sealer works very well for sealing minor windshield leaks. Might be worth trying for a temporary repair to hold it awhile.

Thanks, it looks familiar, I may have used it on another car for a temp repair.......that became permanent.

I saw that vid the other day and wondered about that, also wondered do I even need the cowl vents if I go with aftermarket HVAC.

Whether fresh air flows or not, the cowl needs to drain water.

Well yeah, I'm just wondering if its not needed for HVAC do people seal off the top with solid metal? I don't think I could pull that off without it looking like a hatchet job, but I still wonder. Not wondering if they touch the drains.

I also have a water leak that runs down the passenger A pillar. Just finished pulling of,the top and side exterior trim. Ran some water over the top of the windshield, not a forceful flow. Working alone. Turned off the water and got inside the car to observe. Yup, water dripping down A pillar. Noted some water coming from an open screw hole in the inside upper trim. Remove it and tested again. Water nor coming from the windshield seal. Looks like one or more of the trim clips may be the cause. Have not gotten back to it because the the local rain storms. Covered the top of the windshield with plastic film to keep the water out. Spend "years" trying to sole this problem as it did not always leak when it rained.
