I've been looking at class C stuff. When I find the right one will get one. The motorhomes that sell new for 300-500+ lose about 1/2 in a few years, probably faster than that. And on the new ones the quality control is really bad.
Have come across a few that have almost no miles on them as the newly retired gent buys one and dies. But this is Ariz where a lot of blue hair folks go near the end.
If you're looking at used, look CAREFULLY for leaks. C's especially love to leak in the 'attic' over the cab, because it takes the brunt of the rain. Think "pressure washer". And, most people don't know you need to reseal a camper every. Single. Year., or it WILL leak.
I just took an A down to Florida for 2 weeks, and wow. Thirsty (40' diesel pusher, 34k empty weight, 7.5mpg towing my jeep), but it's the way to go. Used unit, 2011, 34k miles on it, sale price is 99k (I used to work for a dealer here in MD; I still get "borrow" perks if I need one for a trip). 350hp Cummins ISB, Allison 6 speed, king bed, bath and a half, washer/dryer, dual heat pumps plus hydronic heat, rode like a magic carpet and tons of space for living.
I've done the trip in a B as well, and while the A was much thirstier it was definitely the way to go for actual living space (and ridiculously easy to drive). If you can, rent one for a week or so first, and live in it for that week; see how the space treats you. The B was nice for travel, with 3 big dogs...but I wouldn't want to spend more than a night or two in it on the way to a "destination" rental condo or apartment. More a travel piece, than a living piece.
Personally, you couldn't pay me to get a Ford V10 gasser C. I'd go Sprinter, all the way, if I was to get a C. The B I took a few years ago was a sprinter, and it got - honest to God - 17mpg round trip. About the only non-Sprinter C I'd go with, is a Freightliner Super C.
And another thing to consider - many of these, the financing is considered a mortgage and you can deduct the interest on the loan.
