Handsome leading man Richard Chamberlain, who came to prominence in the 1960s medical series “Dr. Kildare” and then became king of the miniseries with such ratings blockbusters as “Shogun” and “The Thorn Birds,” has died. He was 90.

Back circa 1985 a lady from Thailand I was dating brought over the Thorn Bird Series to watch with me. I have to admit, I had a box of tissues there on the table during the show for me, not her.

Remember him as Dr. Kildare. There was a few "doctor" type shows then, Ben Casey, Marcus Welby, Medical Center comes to mind.
