Boxing in rear deck speakers ?

As an audiophile of many years I can say from experience that you always want an amp which has more power than you need for driving your speakers to the volume levels you want. If you don't, you will always drive the amp to clipping which is the kiss of death for a speaker. Way more than overpowering them. I have routinely had speakers with an RMS rating of 60 watts survive use with an old Sansui 9090 (110 watts/channel) or Technics SA-1000 (330 watts/channel) which both substantially exceed the RMS rating of the speakers. The key is to listen to them and scale back as soon as you hear any slight strain. I have also seen speakers of a 100 watt RMS rating die at the hands of a 50 watt amp because it was driven to its max and was probably at 20% distortion or more due to clipping. Clean power is safe, clipped and distorted is not. Marantz made a killing in the 70's and 80's selling amps that delivered more unclipped power than they were rated for. JMHO
Just remember to reduce the volume before turning the stereo off or you risk damaging your speakers the next time you turn it on, not to mention how startling it is hearing AC/DC blasting out Highway to Hell when you turn the key to start your car.

Don't waste your money on car audio. Just buy a portable Bluetooth speaker and stream to it from your phone. Then spend the money you saved on a good home audio gear if sound quality is what you're after.

and you are paying attention as well:) Does your job involve car audio? Remember, this is not a lecture, it's a forum, where everyone contributes. Providing information is fine, but no downtalk please...
OK, so to be clear, what then is claiming another's comment is "hogwash" with no factual info to support the claim or decades of professional experience designing, building, using and selling thousands of cutting-edge speaker cabinets for top level recording studios and large outdoor concert PA's? the physics of audio don't change with a car. I'm only sharing info and am always open to learn new innovative supported alternative viewpoints. Car audio has always been the red headed stepchild in the auto industry mainly offering more gimmicks and features than real results, all the while requiring severe compromises with its execution relative to the rest of the audio industry, and only lately have the OEM's with more refined interiors and quieter cabins been able to step up their game. Our older cars will hardly ever be close to achieving similar real results.
And I personally welcome a lecture from anybody, that has merit.

I never have done it, but would be nice to run the SMAART audio program on some cars with those HUGE equipments to check what is happening there. Lot of air mass move around but that doesn’t mean “sound” with all the cancelling issues LOL.

Sure there is not a nice phasing. No phasing means no audio sum, so a lot of energy lost to produce… nothing to the ears.

However, I equate seeking having nice audio in a car is like seeking nice audio in a shower, almost a fool's errand. Improvements can be had, until one uses it as intended, by turning the shower on.
There are so many variables at play, that have an effect, like occupants, their size, what they are wearing, temp differentials, window tints, windows up or down, sunroof position, so on and so on.

I just strive for good enough for who it's for.
