Some of those bulletins are available free as PDF downloadable files within the moparts tech archives...
Well, haha yeah that's a bit much. I was personally thinking about the .509 cam myself, as i can keep non adjustable rockersLol! That's about a 5500-7500 super comp cam. A bit much for what you're doing . 13.5 cr
I said none were I should of said most. Sure some were. But being a DC dealer we had a lot of insight and contacts as to what was going on. DC was a lot more hands on in the beginning and by the mid 90's they were on the way down the drain. The parts weren't merely re-sourced, some were built to spec for the DC catalog. I remember a magazine article in the 1970s where someone at Direct Connection remarked that they were having a hard time finding a supplier for their 426 Hemi "Battleship" valve springs built to their specifications.
And while many were outsourced, I'm sure that not all were. When Chrysler had an arsenal of foundries and machine shops already up and running for their production lines, it wouldn't make sense to then start buying, say, a cylinder head or crankshaft for a Dodge Neon from an outside company.
Well by now there's NOTHING made by mopar that im going to use unless its either used or NOS hahaI said none were I should of said most. Sure some were. There is gearing listed in the tips, I didnt get the 440 chassis package but I know for the 11 sec. bracket on the 383 cars it lists maximum weight and 4.56s with like 29.5 inch slicks. The problem I see with the DC tips:
- no mention is made of gearing, car weight etc
- only factory heads considered. With a large number of aftermarket alum heads available now, it changes everything
- only FT cams are listed, no rollers.
Yeah, and a NA 11 second car is about where I want to be bracket-wise, I dont want to break past 11.49 on motor and then have to detune with motor. Not saying I dont want to have a faster than 11.49 car overall, just dont want it that way at the trackThe recipes were for bracket cars. Roller cams were true racecar fare back then. And the bulletins were specific as to weight, tire size, gearing and convertors too. I guess we'll see how todays internet opinions are still in any way relevent 50 years from now. For an 11 or 12 second car the information can still be used today.
Well i need a engine up to the job haha. My current 340 has one foot in the grave, starting to burn oil and is leaking out the front timing cover a fair bit. It ran at 96.6 in the 1/4 though With how its leaking I dont think all that many people would be too popular with me spraying oil on the line and down the track. So this is speculative on the whole et thing, but i do know my weight at least with the small block, with me, a full size spare (255/60/15 on a 15x7 steelie), 3/4 tank of gas its 3880lbs. Slicks, skinnies and less gas and removed spare im at least at 3800lbs, but a big block will add a lot of weight back in. 4.56s right now, so gearing isn't issues1st world problems
Step one; get a time slip.
How much compression you think i need to run this thing well? Im trying to keep somewhat in 93 range with aluminum heads, maybe with a partial mix of AVGAS
Also, will it clear a l2295f piston? I plan on running the l2295f and running probably milled CNC stealths which are 80cc
Well I know that's the end all be all best answer to just mock everything up. But, i dont want to waste time and money at the same time. Especially not waste your time having to ship it and allYou would want 11-11.5:1 minimum. I'm not sure how that'd work with the TRW pistons. I haven't used a set of those in probably 20 years maybe 25. I don't think PTV would be an issue although it might be pretty close on the exhaust depending on where you install the cam. You can answer most of your questions I'd have to mock everything up and measure.

If you want to ship it on your dime, which im 100% sure you dont, ill happily mock it up when I get the rest but most people think 11.0-11.5 is still not enough, which is where im thinking it'll be. Im thinking a 590 or 509 will suit me much better
LOL One hell of a way to respond to what I asked. The sign by the door of my shop reads:
" it's not our job to make hotrodding affordable"
We run a for-profit entity over here not sure how things work in Illinois LOL
I wish you luck with your project.
I don't believe I have ever let go of any materials/books/etc in my possession.
That is one I do not have, but I'm not looking for one.I thought I was the only one that still has that stuff. I don't know where it is but it might be with my Hustle Stuff catalog!
If only someone would loan me $7,900 haha (obviously joking). Here you go (I'm serious) @340runner
