They had to, though, they were already on the decline, with key players aging out. They need a full rebuild and that usually takes several years...if they make smart

They went all in a few years ago and it cost them money and draft pics. Not looking good for the immediate future. They need to draft better. A lot better

Those were the days. 74-75 got hooked on both Hockey with Orr and Esposito and the Red Sox with Lynn, Yaz, and Evens. I was 11 lol.

I enjoyed my Islanders dynasty with season tickets at the Coliseum in the 80's.... nuttin' since then.

Glad you brought that up. We always called the oilers the dynasty , but the islanders were the true dynasty,( among others ) before the oilers crushed them. The 84-85 oilers was the best team in 100 yrs according to online

The Islanders crushed the Oilers sweeping 4-straight in the 83 finals. When have the Oilers ever won 19 consecutive playoff series ? THAT's a dynasty.

I can't believe I'm pulling for the Soilers.... very much so. But, I can't get the Florida Porpoises... err, Panthers.

My mom, Canadian born hockey player, living in socal for 60 yrs, LOVED the Kings! Paid for cable solely to watch kings games. As many times as the oilers wrecked the Kings season, the oilers were DESPISED in our house.
In my mom's memory..... I'm rooting for Florida.

Before the Oilers more recent resurgence, back 5+ years ago when they were in the "Decade of Darkness", LA positively beat us to a pulp nearly every game, we had a small, weak team lacking toughness and grit. We despised the Kings back then, they were like bullies kicking sand on our nerdy weaklings. It's so nice to see karma come back to LA though... ;)

My mom was born in Edmonton, but passed in 2010, never got to see the Kings win the cup. Rooted for the Ducks when she had to, like the red-headed step-child team. At least they won once, for her.
