WTB WANTED-factory NOS or original oil breather cap for 1967 GTX 440

To the best of my knowledge ALL 67s had the nipple breather cap

The Federal NON nipple style cap was in play for 1966s on NON CA cars only and was not used on 1967s at all, At least I dont think so
what about a 67 that was built in 12/13/66? It was built in LA, but shipped to a Seattle, WA. dealer. What would you think happened there?

Was the dealer the car was purchased from in CA.?
Both were just $500 all original used cars. One in 1979 and the other in 1987. Both had the CAP.

Even my 1964 SP Fury 426 4sp had to be updated when the original owner migrated to the once-great state in the late 60s. The factory chrome air cleaner has a factory nipple.

that makes total sense. i think I am just going to leave it be for now until i cqn look into this further. i won't be wrong either way, especially since it was built in the LA plant in Dec. 66.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong here.

The CAP cars, which both of my 1967 440 R/Ts were ( CA resident from 1962-2018) had a nipple on the air cleaner, and a vacuum retard valve (green?) for the distributor.
was your cars built at the LA plant?

It sure would be nice to be able to talk to someone that worked the assembly line at the LA Plant.

It does seem odd an LA produced car didn't have CAP

For all I know, it did! When i purchased it 3 yrs ago, the 440 was all geared up to race 1/4 mile. I traced the car all the way back to the 2nd owner in the state of Washington. He knew the original owner, who was his fathers friend. he had just passed away. i had to tear down the entire engine and start from scratch and put back to factory original the best I could learning as I went along. One thing I know for sure. Most of the parts were NOS and the rest restored originals.

Don't know if my 383 Satellites would be the same as a 440 GTX, but neither of my 67's have a nipple on the breather cap. 383, 4bbl, dual snorkel ac built in Jan 67. 383 2bbl, single snorkel built in Apr 67.

Interesting! I wonder if Frank Badalson or Tony D’Agostino would know? My guru, Jim Drain who eats, craps and restores the B Bodies for over 50 yrs. Says also that from 1/2/67 on they all got the provision for the hose connecting th Air Breather to the Air Cleaner. But then again, the tail light Bezels of a 67 GTX are supposed to have a strip of red paint in the inside edge where the Decklid panel met. And I know for a fact that many of them didn’t cause when they ran out of that one they would just give the car the tail light bezel from a Satellite which is identical except for the red stripe.

I'm more familiar with 1966
This is my car .( black one )
Lynch Rd plant built, for 47 states Fed emissions
For the record Mine SHOULD NOT have the nipple breather like it does ( I like it so no real plans to change it )
This particular style in 1966 was only used on cars built for California market emissions requirements

Mine SHOULD look like the other photo with a simple plain breather cap, Jury is still out as to if Black or chrome cap is correct , Or both

I missed the part about this being in reference to CA built cars since it wasn't in the original post and I saw another post referring to all 67's. Mine are St.Louis cars. Definitely no CAP provisions on the breather or air cleaner. Don't know about cars from the LA factory.

All depends on what market the car was being built for

Not all LA plant cars were built for the California market
Exactly! Mine was built for the Seattle, WA. Dealer. That is why I do t think mine is supposed to get it. The fact that someone said that as of 1/1/67, all 440’s and Hemi cars received the cap provision is simply not true.
