Hi Bill, not being argumentative but I wonder why this 68 has a number stamped on it. The factory put the VIN number on that pad from 69 on. Could they have started that late 68 maybe? Tom

Tom, My understanding is that this (converter housing) flange stamping is started in and is unique to 1968. As you can see, and maybe that causes you to be skeptical, the characters are not lined up as they would be if in a holder. Makes them hard to read. Bill

Thanks very much guys! That is definitely a rare 727. Tom

In my opinion that trans was built for the 1967 model year, due to the numbering format, but it was installed in a 1968 car, based on the VIN stamping. The 67- 68 hemi transmissions were the same, and that one was left over after 1967 production ended. Again, just my opinion.

Exactly what I was thinking. This happened more times than not. People who don't know better give the factories way too much credit about making sure part numbers and casting numbers were correct. They did not give a crap, if it was next in the pile, on the car it went.

Original words deleted; this is the wrong place to make the Post I did.

Anyone badly looking for a 69 valve body for a HEMI? I think I still have one here.

Guys, my point in putting this trans out there is for anyone who wants/needs a real Hemi 727 from that period 67-68 - here it is. I purchased for possible use in a '70 car but stayed with what I have in the car. But thanks for the replies. Bill

This could be a real good deal for someone missing the original transmission in a real 1968 Mopar Hemi car. Bob Horman
