Oh boy, unfortunately all the hotels nearest the show are more than likely all booked and full but if they are not they would cost a fortune. I would sadly suggest staying about a half hour out from the show. Regarding the event itself, today was vendor set up day and Sunday is technically a vendor and show break down day so not much is going on. The main event happens tomorrow and Saturday, so take it all in on those days. Regarding places to eat, I would bring your own food… or even stop by the FBBO tent because of the long lines and high prices. Also if you are looking for a breakfast spot besides your hotel, I would suggest going to the Middlesex Diner on the Harrisburg Pike near the truck stop. They have great food and are reasonably priced.Hi all - my son and I want to come over to the event this year, we are about 3 hours away, any suggestions for hotels and the event in general ?
Thank you so much for your post! How is parking at the event itself ? I will take your suggestion of getting a room a bit further. Look at Greg there in the middle. He made the trip from California for the show.
We always did that at the Nats only we would rent a single swap meet spot right next to the back gate. That get's you a swap space and 2 tickets for the weekend. Real handy for a place to park, put up the Easy Up, set up the chairs, coolers, and the grill. We would fix ourselves lunch every day and it was a great place to take a break and rehydrate during the day. We would bring some parts to sell as well and we helped each other out there so you didn't have to be married to the vender spot all weekend. Divide the cost by 4 or 6 guys and it was a cheap trip and weekend. We also divided up gas, lodging, and lunch/munchies.There's plenty of people renting spots in their yards for $10 or so, outside the gates. Get there early and there is usually some parking on the grounds. Or...street parking. Just be prepared to hunt for a while.
If your vehicle is even slightly interesting (and a Mopar)...register and show it. They have a class for it. $70 for the weekend gets the car and 2 people in (gate is $30/person for spectator passes)...and you're guaranteed a spot to park!
Has to go to Pennsylvania to tan those legs.Look at Greg there in the middle. He made the trip from California for the show.
Get better soon Eric, Carlisle isn't going anywhere...hope to see you next year.Hi Everyone,
I unfortunately have some sad news to share. I sadly will NOT be at Carlisle again this year. I had my kidney transplant surgery about 2 months ago back in April and I for the most part am doing well, but my doctor does not think its really a good idea that I go to the show with the weather normally being so hot there. She says to look at the weather beforehand, and if it is 70 degrees then thats fine but otherwise I would have to stay in the hotel room with the air conditioning on. So since that is pointless to me and is not the reason I would be going, this is making my decision to not go. I am sorry to inform you of all of this but I “gotta do what I gotta do” and follow the doctors orders I guess, and I also don’t want any issues only 3 months out being so far away from home either. Anyways, my stepdad will still be going though as he has not missed a Carlisle in 30 years and he will be in the “1967-1968 C-body Stock” class with his blue 1967 Sport Fury convertible. So if you would like to, please stop by his white tent with a green Penn Central Railroad flag and say hello. I am sorry to inform you all of this news because I was really looking forward to going back to see all of you and all of the cars, and now I am disappointed. I do hope to be back next year in 2026 though. I will still be following this post, and I also am looking forward to any pictures that you all take and post.
Take Care,
-Eric (66ChargerHI-PO)

Where did you find a hotel that close, that last minute? You should buy a lotto ticket.I lucked out managed to find a hotel within 3 mins of driving, I may just get and uber over to the event. I do have a 2014 Durango RT and a charger RT, but I heard registering a car is too late anyway...would it make sense to uber over to the fairgrounds due to the parking situation? I bought tickets + parking for the event.
I’ve been outdoors at home at 115 degrees. I’ve driven my car (without air conditioning)when it was 110 and while it wasn’t comfortable, it was easier to deal with than this.Welcome to the mid Atlantic! It’s like being stuck in a steam bath from May through October lol.
My son and I went to Chryslers at Carlisle today bright and early, about a 2 1/2 hour drive. Got there around 9:00. It was a very hot day (lower 90's) but a great day with loads of parts and some very nice cars for sale. My son scored some parts for his upcoming 68 Coronet 500 resto, like a 727 tranny, correct driveshaft and some trim pieces for the rear taillights.....he got some really good prices on his items. Some decent project-cars there too that were under 15k, a nice 69 Roadrunner that ran, drove, and stopped for around 13K....(see pics), a 69 Roadrunner A12 for 140K.....a 68 Charger in black with red Bumblebee stripes, had RT badging but was not a real RT.....80K...Some beautiful cars on display but not for sale....I like the Limelight green Rpadrunner project car that was for sale, a tempting project...check out the pics...... Overall it was a great Carlisle trip even thought I'm still trying to re-hydrate my self this evening ! And, no rain as forecasted....not sure how Sat. and Sunday will be but Friday was the correct choice for me to attend.69bfan added a new event:
