This is going into a 2000 Dakota if it makes any difference. Must be decent gears. Thanks

Have you checked with mopar?
My friend who owned a rearend shop ALWAYS advocated for using oem gears, if possible/available/affordable.

I was told they also made a 3.19 or something close and weird.

Saw an R/T special ordered with that.

Pert near blew my mind.

I hope that guy never tries to top my record 14.2 average MPG for a Dakota R/T ext cab.

Cursory Google search shows 3.55 and lower lots of places, one place had 3.21 but with a $50 surcharge for that ratio, no surcharge for the 3.55s and lower.

I Was Looking At "RockAuto.com" & Notices They Listed Differential Ring & Pinions , You May Want To Give Them A Look.................

This ad is for a buddy of mine that's not a member here but will tell him. Thanks

On the outside chance you come across a big block 75-78 B or C body (or even some 79' police package B-bodies) many of them came with 2.71's in their 9.25 difs. Mine has one with 2.71's and was pulled out of field so they're definitely still out there and not the most desirable ratio performance-wise so should be pretty affordable

He didn't check with the dealer but told him to. Since so many 9 1/4's were made, I'm betting some dealer has what he's looking for.

He's sticking in an 8 speed transmission and since 1st gear in the box is so low, he wants to get rid of the 3.90 gears. If it were mine, I'd at least try it with them before doing the swap but this guy doesn't think that way lol.

My Renegade has crazy low 1st and 2nd.
I think the final drive is something like 4.56.
6 speed manual with double overdrive (technically triple since 4th is .97 to 1).

IIRC the late 9 1/4 has different splines than the mid 70's one, so be careful with that.
