Pressure washing seat belts.

I bought a set of seat belts from the junk yard for my 95 dakota. They were functional but seriously dirty. And saw a youtube video of cleaning them with a pressure washer. And it worked amazingly well. They are like brand new. The gunk and grime was coming off instantly! I used the fan tip nozzle on the pressure washer.
Im going to try it on some of my 69 charger seatbelts. I'm sorry that i didn't take any before pictures but i can post some after pictures later. I was so impressed by the results. That i wanted to share this. Sincerely, Tony.

THIS is an excellent idea. The belts in my truck show grunge from years of construction and junkyard crawling. This would be an excellent way to clean them up.

I would be concerned with just driving dirt deeper into the very tightly woven fabric on the seat belt, or has it been observed that the high-pressure jet exits freely? the far side of the seat belt being pressure cleaned?
Are there other time tested methods, like a good overnight soaking in a suitable detergent?

I have blown away some of the concrete on my patio pressure washing it when I had the pressure up too high. So I guess I'd be careful with the pressure so you don't blast away seat belt fibers. I've never done this cleaning, and it might work great - just start slow and use the minimum pressure you can.

i put the seat belts for my road runner in a pillowcase and put them in the washing machine used dawn dish soap came out great

Maybe for really dirty belts but just how bad are your Charger belts ?!? I've done the one's from my RR in a bucket of hot water with just a bit of laundry detergent then a really good rinse and air dry on a clothesline. I've also re-dyed them because of fading.

On your examples above, being color blind has no downside.

I took the ones out of my 70 GTX and just soaked them in some laundry detergent overnight and scrubbed them with a brush and rinsed and they look like new again. They are even soft and pliable again.

That was pretty much my same process last week.

'70 Charger seatbelt restore

After a scrub with plastic bristle brush and Dawn dish soap, a rinse in hot water, a bit of time to dry, then I dipped the metal buckles in some WD-40 to remove the moisture. I let some parts soak in EvapoRust to stop some minor surface rust from spreading. They cleaned up well enough that I didn't have to RIT-dye them.
