I'm almost at wits end with this car.

Still can't tell much from that one picture. Try holding the cell phone horizontally instead of vertically & take a few more all around, inside & under the hood.

This morning. All the interior needs is the seats to be done and carpet. Everything else just needs cleaning and the metal needs polishing.

Man that's all the enjoyable stuff... seeing the new perfect interior parts going back in feels amazing... that thing actually looks great.. i see the door/fender need some work but it looks damn good from the 1 pic....

Absolutely. Vertical pictures look terrible.

Doesn’t look bad at all. Just be patient and things fall into place. The reward is a job well done and you had your hands in it

I understand part of your problem. My car needed everything EVERYTHING! Took me 5 years part time when I could get to it. The part I don’t understand is your wife. Or actually I do my first wife was a lot like that unsupportive over demanding never listened. Everything had to be her way. But. BUT after 20 years of that I had enough. But my second wife is a real gem! She couraged me to buy the motorcycle I always wanted and this car. Damn she even helped me push it up the driveway and into the garage one day after her major surgery! It’s really shown me how lucky I am to have her!!

As for the car, I’m putting the finishing touches on it now. This is something I always wanted to do and I would never regret anything that I’ve done with it no matter how much time and money it because it’s mine and I did it!

While I don’t encourage you to make any rash decisions I do encourage you to think about what you have what you want and what you need. Life is short you only go around once (that we know of) so sometimes you have to make tough decisions and mold your life the way you want.

Sounds like most days at work for me ...fixing up previous guys stupid workmanship.

Take a chill pill and small bite-sized pieces of the car problems.....making a list of issues might help.

Surely it can't be any worse than this Duster.....

Surely you have to laugh at this, a good one!

I consider my cars to be the equivalent of the Sisyphus greek myth, punished to roll a stone up hill for eternity. You can either bitch about the punishment or revel in the task. And even Sisyphus took a break while the stone rolled back down the hill

Everything. The prior owner did allot of stuff and its not right. Now Im stuck trying to figure it out.
One of the biggest problems I've encountered when building a project occurs when I start pushing forward too quickly. It seems like the harder I push the more it starts to cost, and when it starts costing more the frustration level goes right up there, too. I hear you, so take a step back to assess where you're at, before you burn out your enthusiasm.

I feel ya. I got 4 B-bodys and I have stopped on all of them. 1-Roadrunner, 2-'73 satellites, and 1 '74 Satellite. AMD and other so-called supporters are no help. They won't even conside repopping body panels for them. @ year only they say. How long's it gonna take before those 2 year only cars start being desirable?

I had to read that twice...first pass I saw that Syphilis was a Greek myth.

I often feel like this working on my cars.

Best advice I've heard here is just walk away... Take a chill. Drink your favorite beverage. Don't push through...

Ask me how I know... I've just kept going when I should have quit for the night and it always ends up badly.

Make a list, divide it into sections, then prioritize each thing in the sections as to what it will do to get the car running, if that’s your goal. If you need to buy parts for a particular assembly that is the priority for that section, make it a priority to find and purchase those parts, or sometimes order them well in advance. Example….

Interior….

Seat covers
Door panels
Carpet
Headliner
Armrest bases and pads
Guages and dash

Now my prioritized list….

Seat covers and door panels have a 10 month wait time, not top priority to get it running, but need to be ordered for the future

Carpet can be there in 3 days, but not needed to get it running

Headliner…again, maybe 3 days out unless it’s a special order color. Not needed to get the car running, but needs to be done before you put the seats and carpet back in.

Armrest bases and pads..not a priority to get it running but if you don’t have them to open and close the doors to drive it to the body shop, find some used or buy them new

Guages and dash….top priority to get it running if it has electrical issues. Concentrate on that in your labor schedule

Do this for every area of the car, put prices and timelines on each item in your sections, then concentrate on the items that need to be addressed immedietly to get it running, and parts that take a long time to get. And spend the money you have accordingly so you have the stuff you need when you need it, and work on the stuff that you can while you wait.

Great advice here and that’s what I have to add to my projects as I do them (a timeline priority)
