I never really knew that you could get gold stripes on a 72 Roadrunner. Like those front mud flaps also

I believe it’s a reflective stripe, so the lighting might make it look gold

I know the subject of the photo is the Daytona, but isnt that a Vauxhall Firenza there on the left? Would sure like to know the story of how that car got over here and sitting in an Esso station parking lot next to that Dodge...

Supposedly the picture was taken in 1978.
My first thought about the picture was 'what?'.
It's such an odd picture...the foreign car car on the left, the Esso sign, the Vega(?) station wagon, the Dodge van in the background, the car on the Daytona's right (GM/Buick?). The price sign near the pump...gas price or cigarette price? The signal lights look American to me.
The car on the left. You must be right. Below is a 1973 Vauxhall Firenza for comparison, but no backup(?) light. Maybe the one parked next to the Daytona is a GM Firenza sold in Canada?

General Motors began to import vehicles into Canada from its Vauxhall division in Britain in 1948. While the cars were reasonably well regarded at first, eventually their reputation began to sour under Canada’s harsher driving conditions. The 1966-70 Vauxhall HB line, marketed as the Vauxhall Viva by Pontiac-Buick dealers and as the Envoy Epic by Chevrolet and Oldsmobile franchises, drew special criticism, mainly for their poor build quality and lack of corrosion resistance. GM and Vauxhall never effectively addressed these issues when the revised HC was introduced for 1971. Rather, GM Canada simply dropped the Vauxhall name and rebranded the product as the GM Firenza.
