Im looking for a spare tire/rim to keep in the trunk of my 65 coronet. I found a cheap wheel off of a 2006 dodge caravan on craigslist. I asked the seller what the bolt spacing was and he didnt know. All i know is that its a 15” rim. Can anyone tel me if the wheel will fit on my coronet.

5 on 4.5" pattern is what you need

2006 Dodge Caravan is 5x114.3 which is also actually 5x4.5"
the register in the center may still be different (hopefully not too small)
& the wheel offset to the inside back spacing is probably is different too,
may not matter for just a spare, narrow tire
as long as the register in the center isn't smaller
than your old car has on the axle/brake drum

Resurrecting and stealing the thread here. I’m also looking for a wheel/tire for my car as a spare. Currently running 15 inch rims. This is for my 1970 Sport Satellite with front wheel discs. I’m not sure about the backspacing/offset????? .75” back spacing with 3.75” offset. Will this rim fit OK? Thanks

Oh, and I forgot to mention I want to use a 235 60 15 tire.

If the car has a sure-grip be sure the same OD wheel diameter is provided for the spare tire or if all tires are the same may move one from a front wheel so the rears are the same size and put the odd size spare (if the case) on the front.

Thanks for responding. Yes I have sure grip.

Front and rear are not the same. 275 60 15 rear and front 235 60 15

OD’s not the same so either way it will be off kilter.

The reason for choosing a 235 60 15 for the spare is that the 275 will be too big for the front.

I am not planning long road trips just need to limp back home locally. Not sure what else I can do other than carrying two spares which isn’t happening. Maybe if I were madmax…..

Just want to make sure tire will fit the rim and wheel will fit the car……

Agree with Ron H. Tire height is more important in a spare than width, if you have a sure grip. Get a spare the same height as the REAR tire. It should work on the front (if its a little skinnier) fine. Edit: it's a SPARE. I'd suggest.a 225 70 or 75, whichever is the same height as your 275. And I'd get a six or seven inch rim.
if the wheel you are looking at truly has 3.75 offset and 3/4" backspace, it absolutely WILL NOT FIT! That combo would look like a dually wheel!
If you got that backwards, it should fit.

OK thanks. So Ill have to calculate the height to determine the tire size to match the rear tire height. How do I determine the correct rim size rather than ask again here one I determine the actual tire size I need?

PS I just measured the rear tire height. It’s roughly 27” but hard to measure since it’s up into the wheel well.

The 235-275’s are the tire width. The 60 is the height so you should find the same OD all the way around. Get the narrower tire (235) as you mentioned and it will be all good regardless of which wheel it goes on to replace the flat one. Want the rear axles rotating identically or can cause damage to the rear. You can look up the tire diameters online there are charts showing the spec’s so you just refer to the tire you have to find the OD and other specs.

As an example, I’m looking at a radical change in wheel size but wanting to keep the OD change at a minimum, so looking at 17” wheels and a series 50 tire. I currently have 235/60 15” on it.

TireSize .com is an INVALUABLE resource. You can ask for about any size tire, by size, buy wheel diameter, by tire diameter, it will tell you ALL dimensions, how many revs per mile, etc.
It's book marked on my phone, two tablets, and a laptop.
I'll check with them, find out your 275/60 diameter, and a comparable height skinnier front tire., and post back in a couple minutes.

275/60x15 are 28"tall
So is a 235/70x15. And it will work on an 8" rim
A 215/75x15 is 27.8 tall, so less than a quarter inch shorter. This would be my choice, on a seven inch rim.

So I also need a rim. What specs do I need if I get a 275 60 15 tire? I just wanna buy a cheap new one. It’ll probably never get used or maybe once.

I've seen lots of Jeep steel wheels on older mopars. XJ Cherokees, CJ/YJ/TJ Wranglers, etc. Just a thought. Probably tons of them (literally) at local boneyards...

Agree with triplegreen. Probably dozens of choices in the boneyard.
I recently bought four wheels for my trailer. $50 ea.for a 15x6 Chevy style rally wheel (NOT a Mopar rallye style!) from summit, with both a Chevy and mopar/Ford pattern. Other sizes for just a couple bucks more for wider.
I would get a 15x8 with 4.5 backspace for a 275/60.

Thanks for all the help guys appreciate it have a good week!
