We had several machines from WWII ships at the shop where I used to work......great pics!! Even had a L&S 25" lathe like the once in the pic. Didn't like running it as the controls were slung too low. Hard on the back.
Are the last few pics of a torpedo room?
The very last group is inside the 16 inch gun turret room. Lots going on in there very cramped. I took some pictures through protective glass that shows how the projectiles were brought up from several decks down. What looks like a torpedo are the 16 inch diameter projectiles that are enormous and I believe the guide said can hit a football field area from 23 miles out. The long barrels are the gun barrels. Are the last few pics of a torpedo room?
I'm no fan of Camden, but the police presence on the entire route to the sea port is obvious. The route is kept clean and presentable, no bums no trash.other than jury duty, or getting medi-vacced; that's the only reason to set foot in Camden
The machine rooms were pretty amazing, They could repair or fabricate most anything that could fail or break. they could even rewire electric motors. They carried scrap steel to make repairs. The threading machines could make any screw or bolt or thread large diameter piping. We had several machines from WWII ships at the shop where I used to work......great pics!!
