I am replacing the NON Night/Day mirror in my '64 Fury with a Night/Day prismatic mirror. I have found 2 styles using the same part numbers. One style has a smooth back and the other is ribbed. I seem to recall from my last '64 Sport Fury that the ribbed design is correct. However that has been a long time ago and would appreciate any input as to what is actually correct.

Is the smooth back a day/night?

The day/night on my '62 is ribbed like your first picture
Both are Day/Night that's what has me confused. I'm fairly sure my previous 64's had the ribbed back. My '62 has the ribbed back. What is strange is both are NOS and both have the same part numbers.

If they both are for a 62 I would go with the ribbed. Great look and much more interesting. Not that you were asking for opinions! LOL

Different vendor for one mirror?

The Number I have is 2299846.
I do prefer the ribbed back..... I have also noticed that the switching mechanism for the day/night function was changed by the factory along the way from a gray lever, to a black and white rocker type switch. The different colors made it easy to identify the mirrors position just by checking the color showing. I know that the black rocker type switch is correct for a late production '64 Sport Fury.
