Children watched in horror as Tallahassee police officers arrested a criminal in a Chuck E Cheese costume this summer.

“We’re gonna detain the mouse,” an officer is heard saying as he entered the Chuck E Cheese restaurant and entertainment center.

The criminal in the mouse costume, identified as Jermel Jones, initially resisted arrest.

“Chuck E is a little bit busy, ma’am,” a police officer said to a woman who asked the mouse mascot to take a photo with her child. “Chuck E, come with me. Chuck E! Chuck E! Stop resisting! You’re being detained, stop resisting! Do not cause a scene here, sir!”

Jones, 41, was arrested for credit card theft.
