Anyone install the shorter E body pistol grip shifter in their mid 60s B body non console car? Is it too far to reach?
Pros? Cons?

Not a B Body but I did use one in a Duster years ago.
Being that a B Body has the shifter mounted further back on the tail housing I believe it would work

I did BUT I have the Hurst Supershifter with the bracket that moves the shifter back about 8 inches AND raises it up a couple.

If you used the e-body shifter in a b-body you better have lo-o-o-o-ng arms !!!

I would bet it’s going to hit your dash.
I have the same shifter relocate setup as gkent.

I honestly don't think you'd be able to reach it anyway. If mounted in the stock location it would mount where the white dot is. The front of that bracket you see comes up through the original hole in the hump.

The 71-74 "short" shifter is designed to be mounted on the rear mount point.

Actually, the "long" shifter also mounts on the rear, but has about a 10" "dogbone" mount, moving it forward quite a bit.

Are you saying the 71-74 short shifter (what model car?), will fit b body with no issues?

71-74 B body.

I'm not saying "no issues" at all.

I'm just clarifying where the mount locations are on 71-74 B and 70-74 E body cars.

Ok understood, im inquiring about a 68 Charger

Get an e-body tailstock with the mount further back and it'll likely work. But keep in mind you're going to have to butcher the hump. Also, e-body seats are lower so the shifter is in a nice spot. But with the higher b-body seats you'd be reaching down to grab it. Ideally you want your elbow at 90* when you grab the shifter.
