First high-speed test, 1969 Charger Daytona at Chelsea Proving grounds, July 1969

DC-93, driven by Charlie Glotzbach, July 13th. shake down runs.
The guys are working on the test recorder in the trunk.
Note the drilled-out hinges. A lot of work to lighten them up.
Wing was body colored.

By the next test, July 20th., the wing was painted white while on the car.
DC-93 ran laps at 205 mph with Buddy Baker and Charlie Glotzbach driving.

For reference, the Fake 88 has the vent coming out of the back taillight panel.

My guess was K&k? Orange with gold roof at the test grounds pic.

The low speed car, DC-74, had the cobbled up nose and stubby wing. It was red and originally a 1968 1/2 built for the Firecracker 400.
It was deemed illegal by NASCAR and they told Chrysler not to bring it back. Basically, it was lowered too much.

It became The Fake 88.

I have no car pic to post, but very few Dodges/Daytona's were blue from my memory at that time, and the pic at the proving ground sure looks like a two tone paint job, and Charlie and Buddy were if I remember right more Dodge drivers (vs Plymouth) which seldom at that time were ever blue, Orange/red and White being the predominate Dodge base colors, so I guessed the 1969 test mule was not blue and two toned whatever the based color was.
I believe my logic is sound, but my guess may certainly be wrong.

The proving grounds photo may look two tone because of the sun reflecting on the roof.
It never was.

NOTICE - There was no aluminum piece between the 1/4 panel and bumper. From what I've seen, DC-93 was the only
MoPar stock car without that piece. No idea why they never put one on. Obviously, that didn't slow it down.

Maybe this pic will help: DC-93 at Daytona Speedway, early August, 1969 testing.
Bobby Isaac ran hot laps in it.
Chrysler race mechanics Fred Schrandt and Larry Knowlton with Larry Rathgeb on the right.
All 3 were the some of the key guys at the 200-mph record run in March of 1970.
