70 Road Runner rally dash. Can the speedometer be replaced without removing the dash? THANKS!

Not sure about the speedo....but I just replaced the Clock with a tictoktach....it was easy to do without removing the dash. 3 screws and it came right out. Yes...I was on my back looing up. Seat still in. But it was doable for sure. I also read I had to remove the dash to do the tach.

Tachometer yes, speedometer no.

You don't have to remove the cluster, just the front panel, the clear lense and th black mask over the gauges, the. Remove the speedo cable and 2 big screws that hold the speedo to the cluster housing. Cana leave all the other gauges and wiring connected.

That's a lot of contorting to avoid the extra few seconds to pop the cluster once the bezel has been removed....

I've removed and serviced several 69 and 70 rallye instrument clusters. I would never try to change out the speedometer unless the cluster came out.

I just wanted to let him know it can be done.

Could be a wash because you just remove 2 screws instead of all the wiring from the back of the cluster and risk breaking off the pins, the bolt on AMP gauge wires. Wiper/washer and headlamp switch wires, brake lamp bulb, TS and high beam indicators, and the tach or clock wiring can all stay put.

Not a very fun time either way on these 68-70's. 66-67 much easier.

Actually after thinking about it on a rally cluster the bezel is attached to the cluster with screws from the back side.... Gonna be some next level contortionist stuff happening to not remove the cluster....

Pulled out the cluster for my 68 Coronet...

That's why I said the cluster needs to come out on the second post.
