I know this has been asked but how much tire can you fit into a b body (68 GTX) rear qtr without rubbing? I wouldn't mind running a small spacer if needed. Thanks

I always ran 15x8's with L60's on my B Bodies. L60-15's are about 225-60's. You can run a 255-60 on an 8" wide and it should fit without rubbing.

Im running a 15x10 with 5" backspace. 295/50/15. It's tight but no rubbing so far.
Theres enough variation car to car that makes it a hard question to answer.

I've had 10.5x28 slicks on a 15x8 1/2 rim with 4 7/8 backspace, on a 69 rr. (lips rolled, however)
Equivalent size street tire is a 295/55x 15
The wider the rim is, (10") the more perfect the backspace needs to be.
Imo, more backspace is always better than not enough, given a choice. With a bit too much backspace, a spacer can make it perfect.
A 275 60 on an 8 or 8.5 rim with 4.5 bs fits pretty easily.

69 RR ... 28 x 12.5 x 15 Mickey Thompsons. These have only 3/4" clearance to the front lip of the quarter. The car is mini-tubbed. 10" wheel with 5-1/2" backspace AND the rear has been narrowed 1/2" per side.

Key points:
28" is as tall as you can go with stock axle location and stock wheel opening.
10" wheel/tire combo will be really tight in a stock tub.

That’s bullshit! That’s a Dodge - the OP has a Plymouth. Totally different wheel openings!

Just about right. "Back in the day"
just like my old 68 Charger R/T, like summer of 76-ish
Hi-Jackers air shocks
& 15x10, 5" BS Cragers
with N50x15" Pro-Trac belted bias-plys, that was the look

I might be a little late , but 15x10 4.5 backspace , 2” raise on the springs , 275 60 15 fits a little snug , but can be done if you want to go full 70s!

a 68 GTX should be the same as a 68 RR,
unless it has a 4 speed & Dana-60, it's a lil' longer, like 1/4" (?) IIRC 'each side'

if you have disc brakes it can push the wheels out another 1/4" on each side too

I think my 68 Charger R/T had/has a slightly bigger wheel well opening

my 68 RR
it's like 13"+ (give or take 1/4")
between the trim to the edge on the inside of the wheel tubs

there's also a big hump on the inside of the outer part of the inner wheel wells
that could cause rubbing on extreme angles, tire going up into it

so for no rubbing ever
on the rear of my 68 RR stock height, clear no problem
BFG Radial TAs P295/50/15 on 15x9+ Halibrands
(mounting surface is like 8"+, really thick edges for the beads)
w/5"+ BS
has like an 1" clearance on the trim/outside & the leafs/inside

still sits too high in front, need to lower the TBs & get realigned
