True, but I spend a lot of time at train shows going thru junk boxes finding $1-$5 projects. And no $1000+ steam engines either. And out of all the wood for the layout and shelves, only bought one sheet of plywood. Everything else was scrapsDo an inventory on the price of the pieces in that setup. Years go by a few bucks here and a few there ..... come add it up.
I owned and used that very same McCulloch chain saw for a number of years. 48" rotating bar, 1/2" chain, gear reduction, removable handle at the front of the bar, massive bumper spikes. It was a beast.
I gave everything away some years ago and had to buy a new train for this layout. I only bought one, and it was used and a cheapie. I just bought the train to justify building the layout. It's the diorama I'm after. A town, a farm, a lake with waterfalls, mountains with tunnels, and a few bridges, one being a wooden trestle. I have an idea, but I design as a go alone. I did cars like that years ago, my car, my world, my end result.True, but I spend a lot of time at train shows going thru junk boxes finding $1-$5 projects. And no $1000+ steam engines either.
