DOGS

So after 7hrs of driving yesterday we have found a new pup. I think her name is going to be Hope. She is 4 weeks old and we can pick her up the first week of October. We have all fall and winter to train her which is good as our schedule is a lot lighter.View attachment 1914335View attachment 1914336View attachment 1914338

My office is his new favorite space. He loves to lay in the Ranger and watch me work.

The old ice rink that is now a training pen at the dog park required people to step up and down a foot to get in and out. So I built a ramp 6 feet long. It is ADA compliant for assisted wheel chairs. I didn't ask permission, so it'll be interesting to see what the city does with it.

I constantly worry about the animals outlasting me too, and I don’t have any kids etc that could step in.
When I win the lottery, I'm going to add on to retirement homes with animal rescues. That way somebody can take their animal with them and if they go first, they know their loved one will be cared for and happy. In a building with many animal lovers, the labor problem of rescues will be solved and the rescueds will be loved until adopted.

We've been doing some impromptu dog sitting this week. One of our neighbors adopted this Catahoula pooch. Sweet, well mannered pup. But he has a big separation anxiety issue, needs people around, plus he's an escape artist. He met Zeke and Toga, they hit it off well. Two days ago I hear a noise outside. Open the door and here's Mojo. Popped over a 4' gate at the top of our entry stairs which is 18 steps. This after he did a four mile run with one of his human parents. He got out of his kennel this morning, escaped from his house, hopped the fence at his home, came down to our place, hopped the gate.

We've had him now for a number of
years.. Couldn't tell by looking, they're
same mix. Owned a number of faithful
companions over my 70 years. Trip
reins at the top.

Today while out with some friends we walked by a PetSmart that was having some puppy adoption event, I felt bad and wanted to grab a bunch of the little guys.

Our cat passed a couple days ago. (We think she was 20). A few months ago when she seemed to be bugging my girlfriend daily, she said NO MORE cats. Honestly, she does ALL the maintenance and feeding, of both our cat and dogs. My job is to play with them five times a day, and cover vet bills. I think I got a bargain.
Today, a much softer gf says if I really want a kitten (that isn't scared to death of big dogs, lol) we can get one.
Now all I have to do is find a tortie (I REALLY want a tortie!) in the shelter.

Aw man, sorry about your cat, sounds like you helped her have a nice long life by cat standards.
