Regarding one word salad reason McDonald's is removing all in store self-serve fountain refills:

"Another significant reason is the rise of digital and app-based ordering, which has transformed the fast-food landscape. With more customers opting for delivery or drive-thru services, the traditional dine-in experience has seen a decline. As Mikel Petro, a McDonald’s franchise operator in Illinois, noted, the transition is part of an “evolution toward convenience and the result of the growth of digital service.” By moving away from self-serve stations, McDonald’s is aligning its operations with these new consumer preferences."

Another reason given is hygiene, that somehow handing a used cup back to the staff for a refill is less risky?
Also note the article quotes a 95% profit margin on fountain drinks.

I disagree, instead add a mandated $2? surcharge to every drive thru order and direct it to diabetes research and cure, and encourage the entitled customers to park and shut off their gas wasting idling polluting cars and get some exercise by walking inside and drinking all the calorie free refill drinks they care to have.
 
I agree. Closing drivethrus and encouraging eating inside would have social and ecological benefits (and I'm not THAT guy). Drivethrus are so much cheaper for the business to operate, that's what it's all about, nothing to do with their made up bafflegab. It;s all about having a smaller parking lot, fewer slaves, less of a storefront area, less cleanup for a start.
 
I have not eaten that crap in years. First it was food for those too lazy to cook, now it is food for those too fat and
lazy to even go get it themselves.
 
Here's an idea option...Just do not patronize these fast food joints and eat at home. And quit with the Soda, as it is now a killer for the human species. cr8crshr/Bill :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

The last time I went inside McDonalds, I stood at the order kiosk for 10 min. and couldn't seem to get it to work the way I thought it should. I am not stupid and can work my way around computers fairly well for my age. I said screw it, left the order in que, and walked out. Haven't been back. That was weeks ago and my Mc Double and fries is probably still setting on the counter waiting for pick up.

My last soda ever was 11/7/19, I quit cold turkey. I keep a Diet Dr Pepper in the refrigerator to test my will power, so far, it's holding up.
I would still like the option of refilling my ice water myself if ever finding myself in a McDonalds, I don't think I am alone, but maybe.
 
I have a tall Budweiser in my fridge- been in there 5 years. Been drinking water only since. Much healthier!
 
Drove thru taco bell couple of days ago. AI ordertaker. So frustrating. 5 tries at add on sales, and would I like to round up so they can keep my change and make a tax deductible donation in their name!!
 
Side note- KFC came out with onion rings and they're remarkably good. ( up here anyways)
 
The Other Place here has the best onion rings. Here is a grilled pork tenderloin, also a local favorite.

Can't remember how long ago that I went to a McDonalds and been a couple of years since going into a GC but I like the buffet setup of those places. I pick what I want and can get several small helpings. When I was younger, I could load up and not put on weight.
