Our traffic laws, here in Ontario, are very onerous, with stiff penalties. Doing burnouts and squealing tires are called "stunt driving" up here, and the police take a very dim view of it. If caught, you immediately lose your driver's licence for 1 month, and your car is towed to an impound lot for a 14 day stay. From there, your case heads to court. A conviction for "stunt driving", carries a minimum $2000.00 fine or up to $10,000, 6 demerits points, and a loss of licence for 1 year. More costs include towing and impound lot charges, plus lawyer fees. Additionally, your car insurance will increase substantially, with a conviction. After that, the offender must attend a court-mandated course before getting a licence returned. So, a simple burn-out could cost upwards of $10,000: hardly worth it.

That makes the case for the use of electric exhaust cut-outs during burnouts, harder to hear what the tires are complaining about.

It's only a matter of time before the US has the same laws.
In Florida, just being near and watching a similar display gets one cited as a coconspirator.

0-60+mph. I like my cars to be able to merge on the highway easily. Drive an Audi S3 daily it's pretty quick.

That has changed over time. When I was young, I had a 69 Plymouth sports fury with a police package, it would run 135mph on a certified speedometer. Lots less traffic back then in my rural area would road race and run it fast all the time. Next car was a 1970 340 dart it would run really fast as well. I turned that Dart into a drag car and then I was hooked. I guess it is strange but when I was young never worried about dying, now that I am old would never run that fast on a public road. Got a 69 cuda with a procharged 410, 4 speed and it is so wild it is almost scary, do a few easy runs now and then on the street. Thinking about taking the supercharger off, it will break the tires loose in 1,2, and 3 just by stepping on the throttle while rolling.

I like doing burnouts too but 'most' of mine were on private property so the most trouble I could get into was disturbing the peace. 0 to 60 is fun but I also like seeing how fast the car was then being in Germany for awhile spoiled me going 130 for extended periods (what can I say, my car there was a 4 banger but it wasn't a small 4 banger). When I came home, the 55 law was in effect and man, that was soooo boring. Driving the highways was no longer fun at all and if caught myself nodding off. Wasn't long before I bought a radar detector!

I've driven super fast years ago....scares me a touch going over 100mph now..... maybe more for the consequences of getting caught.

I prefer now to do burnouts .... 'exhibition of speed' as it is known on the tickets.... or sustained loss of traction.

Where I live it’s “unreasonable acceleration”, the last one I got was $20 although that was a very long time ago. I pulled out of the gas station in my ‘70 Charger and lit ‘em up, through the haze I noticed a cop right behind me. I thought maybe he didn’t notice, then he lit me up. Doh!

That works for you and makes you happy, cool. I can relate.
But I do a stationary burnout, so that when I stab it, it just MOVES, without spinning a tire or leaving streaks. That's why I have 14" wide tires

I get that you’re doing that for traction for a race. I should have been more clear. For just showing off by riding the brakes and roasting the tires, no thanks. I can make most any car do that. Real power is needed to stab the gas pedal and the tires go up in smoke.

I took a friends Kawasaki GPZ-1100 up to 141 mph (according to the speedo), when the thought of a front tire blowout went through my mind. Right back down to 60 mph, and never ventured past 75-80 on two wheels again. I'll be plenty happy if my coronet breaks 110-115 in the 1/4 mile.
