I restored my 70 Charger 500 10 years ago. The original dash pad was still in one piece but at 45 years old (and getting brittle and corners curling a little) I decided to have the body shop install a reproduction pad while they did the body work. (you can insert the jackass he-haw sound effect here as this was a mistake) I don't know who the manufacturer of the new pad was but #1; the texture was not the same as original (too smooth) and #2; the f-n thing started delaminating two years ago. During removal of the original, the shop ended up punching various small holes in it and is now completely unusable - yes, apparently brittle. The shop did give me a decent original pad as a replacement for the new junky pad (for me to install sometime) but it has some small imperfections.
Question 1: do I install the replacement original pad
Question 2: Is there an actual reproduction company that makes a quality dash pad that doesn't look like s-t and won't delaminate?
Question 3: Is there a company that takes original pad (with frame) and repads said frame with a quality dash pad that doesn't look like s-t and won't delaminate?
Thx Kalvinator
