The black car "Mr Hyde" is on its way as well. Probably on that same truck or one of the others coming out of the East Coast.
See y'all there.

People might be surprised to hear how many of the cars at MCACN are shipped there by Reliable every year. Reliable has an on site coordinator there for the show to manage all their rigs coming in for setup and for loading the cars back on them Monday morning.
150+ cars of the 600 in the show arrive via Reliable.
This is what the hall will look like mid day tomorrow!

That is too cool. I wish I was getting there earlier too see this activity . I am afraid I arrive too late in the evening! I don't know how some of the owners can't be *** puckered with the loading and unloading process! I sure was!! LOL And will be when they are off loading a manual 3 speed while I am up in the air!

This is what the drivers get paid to do. Over time I’m sure they encounter all sorts of crazy situations that don’t normally come up when dealing with ‘regular’ cars.

There is a lot of money and ego involved and if/when things go wrong it’s a big deal for everyone involved so it sort of behooves them to avoid those situations as best as they can. Have to be confident but also when to ask for help when it’s necessary.

Besides, (in general) even the most valuable muscle cars don’t compare monetarily to other types of high end collector cars like 100 year old coach-built touring cars, vintage European road racers, modern exotics… muscle cars are still for the regular joes, not billionaires.

I should be arriving there some time around 2:30 tomorrow to help Captain Coconut set up his display. If cars are still being unloaded I’ll try to document it. He’s en route right now.

Being involved in the show, it is interesting seeing how different owners act in relation to how their cars are handled.
There’s owners there of half million dollar or even million dollar cars who toss Bob Ashton the keys at the show and say “do what you gotta do, seeya later!” Then others who are completely overprotective of a $30,000 car and get offended if any of us even go near it during setup.
That gets difficult as cars need to be moved several times during setup, and sometimes even after being in position on the floor, their position needs to be tweaked a bit to be perfect.
When you look down a row of cars there, you’ll notice the corner of every front bumper are perfectly aligned and the cars are evenly spaced apart. If owners are there, they can fire it up and move it under our direction. Otherwise we carefully use Go-Jacks to raise and move the cars. I’m not aware our crew of car enthusiasts has ever damaged a car there. But still some owners get livid at the thought of anyone touching their car.
Last year a Camaro owner from the northeast was being a complete *** Friday about having to move his car several times and was going off on our guys. Bob Ashton happened to walk by as this was happening, and not knowing who he was talking to, the guy started going off on Bob.
Bob said, I think it would be best if you and your car leave.
So the guy had to go get his rig, load his Z28 back up, and drive 800 miles back home.
That’s the only time I’m aware of a car getting kicked out!

Drivers for Reliable are like the cars they haul, remnants of a past era when muscle cars roamed the streets, and good experienced truck drivers made as much as a doctor or lawyer. They make that level of money today, because their responsibilities rise to the same level.

That is nuts. Seems like you’d have to be just an unbelievable prick and would have to try really hard to even piss off Bob at all. Some people just can’t get over themselves. Sad but true.

You get all types. The Corvette guys are the worst !
This year the Vettes are being displayed in the room where many vendors are located. Regulars will know the room I refer to, it’s where the High School rides feature was last year, and the big A12 extravaganza a few years before that.
So those of us who aren’t interested in Vettes can largely just skip that room altogether unless you want to check out the vendors.
The Yenko club is having a special feature in the area where the stage was in previous years. They’ve been a little pushy with demands, hopefully things will work out with them during setup and they won’t cause problems.
There’s a small list of people who’ve gotten black listed over the years but it’s a small list. One guy stole a rare gas cap off a Mustang, there are security cameras around, so they found footage of him doing it, suggested to him that a missing cap needed to be returned in 5 minutes or someone was getting arrested, he returned it and got tossed. Another guy who was pulling some scam involving recording VIN numbers, another well known guy, who was a good guy, but now is passed, was drinking at breakdown after the show, and smoking, the Mecum guys asked him to not smoke, he tossed his cigarette on their carpet, so he got tossed. Maybe a few others, but the Camaro guy is the first car I know of that got tossed.

rmchrgr that would be so unbeleivably cool and appreciated! Thank you so much for even suggesting that. Wish I was there to hear the symphony when they are being moved! LOL.

Hey no guarantees but as long as the opportunity presents itself I’ll do my best. I’ll definitely have lots of pics either way.
