Can you spot what’s wrong with this brand new Comp Cam?

:mob::mob::mob: I know crap like that can happen but how many people failed to catch that before packaging?

I had brand new rods that were too large on the big end, right out of the box. I had to recondition them.

I have learned to trust NOTHING when it comes to new parts. Check everything!

looks like its made out of 100% Chineseium. a known alloy of dubious quality that's guaranteed to (insert 4 letter word of choice) up what ever it touches

what makes Comp Cams so popular? they seem to be everyone's "go to"

I bought my stuff from Hughes..... they hooked me with the "Mopar Specific" BS

Best you’re going to get from comp is ford style lobes in their XE line, plus their “run flat” technology.

I’ve had great results with Hughes cams from both performance and reliability perspective . Hughes lobes are inherently more aggressive because they are designed to take advantage of Chrysler’s larger lifter diameters. Winner of “Fading Color” cam shootout article from several years ago by a small margin.

Got a link?

My guess is that defect was there in the semi-finished core(as it came from the core supplier) the finished profile was ground on.
Not an excuse, just a possible explanation.
It absolutely should have been caught before it even got close to being put in a box.
