I drove my 68 Barracuda fastback 45 miles to pick up 4 5x4.5 15x6.5” steel wheels 3 of which had truck tires mounted ( $10 each couldn’t pass ) then drove over to tire store to have tires taken off . I own 2 trucks but love to drive the Mopars … it’s my car-truck ..lol

If you’ve never been on it you will be hooked. Full of members who are engineers, high end engine builders , old pros and even some formula one/ pro stock guys. Im am hesitant to post much there for fear of looking stupid … which I am in comparison.

I’ve been down paths like this and there are only so many things that can cause your detonation. I have a hard time believing that those combustion chambers are so inefficient...
Aha … personally I would pull it and go through it in case to prevent further damage . And to verify the integrity of it . You will probably spend more time trying to get it to spin than pulling it .
Do you feel comfortable doing the work ? Have the tools ?
Put a vacuum pump on your vacuum advance to see where it is coming in at . If there is a hexagon on the can it is adjustable with a small allen wrench . Assuming you have a Mopar distributor.
Pull engine and trany as an assembly then seprate .
Remove the crank . Ten remove pistons .
Whatever doesn’t come out is the issue. If the pistons are stuck fill the cylinders with diesel and aceton , wrap the block in a plastic bag for a week and tap pstons with a rubber mallet ubtil they...
No **** ! My 70 with a 383 Magnum and 2.76 gears ( came stock with 3.23s) hit 145 back in 1980. If the 68 R/T was only doing 110 the stang would have to hit 190 to catch it within 10 miles …lol
No real math was involved in this calculation…lol
