Howards cam is my favorite.
I think (or i hope :)) the 470 with 4-speed can work well with both camshafts.
Not so well with a 383, but with a 470 cui it should be fine.
I drive a Lunati voodoo 702 in a 496 cui / 727 in a street engine with dual plane and HP manifolds and the cam could be one...
I 'll definitely go for either the Crower 701 or the Howards 721941-12.
We'll see which one arrives faster.
There are currently problems with sourcing the blanks.
Thanks for all your comments.
The old roller cam from the engine was a Crane 689551.
It was loud and worked really well from 4000 rpm.
Good for the strip, not so good for the street.
I don't race with it anymore, so I'm rebuilding the engine for the street.
Less compression, less camshaft.
No 2618 pistons, but 4032.
The new...
Thanks for your comments.
The suggested camshafts are for performance at higher revs.
I'm looking for a lot of torque at low and medium revs for a heavy 4-speed car for road use.
I don't need maximum horsepower.
The engine doesn't usually go above 5000 rpm.
But of course I want to get the most...
Firstly:
I know I should ask Hughes.
I did.
But they can't deliver because they don't have any hydraulic flat tappet cores. And there's not much choice in stock.
Same with Howard's.
Maybe someone here has an idea?
I'm looking for a flat tappet cam.
I don't like the noise the roller cam makes in...
I´m looking for a stock tuff or rim blow steering wheel mounting hub for a ´71 b-body.
The short hub not the crush can.
Single or complete with steering wheel.
Thanks
You're right, the colors are all slightly different.
The dash pad and dash frame are the darkest.
Herbs doesn't have a matching gold that is correct for 1971.
I have seen dyes at performancecargraphics:
Performance Car Graphics PCG performancecargraphics.com
They custom mix the color.
Concours...
GY4 is the door frame paint color.
Y3 is the code for the interior (seats, bench, door panels, dash pat etc.)
Y3 medium gold
The dash frame and the dash pad are darker than seats and door panels.
Thanks
Is there a manufacturer for the correct color of a 1971 Road Runner dash pad with interior color code M6Y3?
Herb's parts doesn't have it. OER/Classic Industries doesn't have it either.
Here is an exemplary picture:
