I think, per usual, folks on here just don't want to read everything, but definitely want to weigh in. Ironic and sometimes frustrating, but for every thread I make, at least 1 person actually pays attention and teaches me something, so it's worth the annoyance.
The issue has been resolved...
Can you detail this top hole thing more, my 727 has a stud on the 'top hole' that I can hang the starter on and fasten down with a nut, I assumed this was original because it looks as old as the rest, but maybe not... the bottom ear mount uses a bolt.
The issue was the broken snout.
The big question was, what's possible when the snout breaks.
I have a shim. The original shim, not a 440source ''mini shim''.
I looked them up for that truck instead of a 93 D150 5.9 and the search result gave me some better quality options, looking up the 93 just gave me 60~70$ chinese repos, the Dakota search showed an Ultima for 160, a Bosch for 170, etc.
The Denso number pictured above seems to be old and probably...
I thought I would start a chat with a couple questions about the mini starters. Obviously they are supposed to be pretty straightforward and lots of people use them, but I have also seen a few stories of little problems and quirks. Some stories read that it is pretty painless on a B block but...
There's a difference between working low budget and trying to make something nice with limited means (I have a 40yr old steel single car shed on dirt/gravel), and dudes that just hoard cars they'll never fix just because they can. And they are pretty similar to the parts pimps, the volume...
That is 100% what I am going to do, that's a great idea. I will update in a thread however I clean up and modify the original clips and what plastic studs I find and use. I have a buddy with a 3D printer, maybe we can scan the best original to put into a file and recreate.
I am looking for the clips for the rocker chrome that runs the length of the car. Joe Suchy has no leads. I still think this post belongs in the 62-65 B Body section..... but it's been deleted so here I am.
I have almost all of the original clips if someone out there wants to collaborate on...
thanks again for replies
re: moroso 20760: not crazy about the moroso pans, I lowered the car on the torsions a bit and was never a big fan of the moroso design or appearance, just looks like steel jowls hanging out underneath ready for a bad bridge transition or speed bump to ruin your day...
all 3 responses lovely, thank you for sharing
ironically my dipstick is some chrome replacement turd off amazon that has awful markings but I will do some measuring and plan to mark the stick with a fresh oil change to guide it
I like to use 15w40 Rotella with zinc additive on older engines...
The car is a 65 satellite. It had a 361 in it originally, but I put together a 440 for it and swapped them out. In the swap, the oil pan issues which are common with this car arose and I used the original 361 B block oil pan and pickup because it was the only option. This is a particularly...
