Fairly common for molex connectors to fail. Over 50 years old… be wary of the rest of your wiring. Carry a fire extinguisher. I redid my entire harness as not worth the risk.
I had an OER installed on a different vehicle and as soon as it rained and froze the glass cracked down the middle. Glass shop wouldn’t cover under warranty. Was just over 1 week old…I have been advised by a buddy of mine who is a body man that this is common because of glass quality. Try not to...
Sure you can rebuild cylinder providing you can find a kit and that the bore of the cylinder is not badly corroded. There is a maximum you can safely hone out the cylinder. I just tried doing my original cylinder but was past the limit. FSM says .002, other sources say .005. I had to replace...
Too much to go into it. By the time it’s complete the restoration costs will far exceed realistic value. If you have time and ambition part it out your self to recoup some costs.
I agree with^^^. Do a proper and complete rebuild. Your 1/2 ways there already. In post 10 there appears to be some overheating of the one fiber that is visible. O/H kits aren’t huge dollars compared to R&R. You can try to have the metal parts cleaned out in a large parts washer that uses a...
It’s worth while going through the blower motor. Mine worked but I decided to disassemble it anyway.. good thing I did, was a bit rusty with age and also a bit noisy. I cleaned it up and lubbed the bushings and it runs much much better now. Easy to do once the box is on a workbench.
I think the kid did an awesome job. We as classic car enthusiasts do need younger people to pick up the sport, or at some point there will be a surplus of these vehicles. And you know what happens when there is a surplus…values go down. Supply and demand. In 20 years or less most of us will have...
I would recommend having your heater core reconditioned locally at a rad shop if you can… I had to replace mine and I got a core from classic industry’s, price was ok but the tubes were not soldered to the reinforcing bracket properly and I could not assemble the heater box. I had to remove and...
One thing I failed to mention is make sure you have very secure connections. If not you will have issues, that was my stalling/no start issue. I used non-insulated metal crimp connectors that were crimped, soldered, and covered with heat shrink tubing. I picked up a hand held butane torch for...
Previous owner had a painless harness installed but was badly butchered. Car would actually stall with no start, so embarrassing… rewired it with the painless harness, found source of stall and no start. With the instructions from painless, and FSM it wasent bad at all. Helps that I have worked...
After reading all of this and thinking back as a tech for many years, cleanliness is absolutely absolutely the key. If not 110% clean it may leak. A persistent leak can drive a person insane, I have been there… You do also need a functioning PCV system to eliminate excessive crankcase pressure...
