If you remove the choke rod housing you may find that the spring is adjustable. There will be a nut and striations + or - to increase or decrease spring tension.
Well Mike, my car had 2.76 gears so yes it was till you got it up around 27-2800 rpm in first shifting at 4500.
4500 was about top rpm with the stock cam and valve springs.
With a 600 AFB, the Weiand headers and duals it ran really good.

Mr. C. I worked at a small Dodge Dealer in the 70's. I remember we only got 1 Midnight Charger in. It was light blue. Blue interior.
I really liked the grille. The Vinyl roof looked out of place, over stuffed to me. It also had a power moon roof.
I believe it was special order by the customer.
But not too tight. New York you deal with cold temps. Does the car sit outside or inside where the temps are warmer than outside?
I have found that I will have to set the choke twice with the spring/summer fall/winter.
So for winter temps right now adjust choke coil till butterfly is closed...
True, in 50 years of building cars (Mopars) I made money on 1. Had $16K in it, sold it for $25K.
But it is just a hobby. I enjoy finding, building. When I'm done time to move on to the next project.
I used the Prothane kit on my 79 300 B body. Massive improvement.
Yes they are a pain to replace on the K frame but can be done. Also change the transmission and the rear springs isolators Prothane has those kits too.
Whatever you chose you will be glad you did. Handles much better.
68 Coronet R/T, in 1969 my Dad bought a leftover R/T new. His was gold with a black bumble bee stripe.
Same time he bought my sister a Coronet 500 same color as yours. The 68 has always been a favorite of mine.
Both cars rusted away to nothing within 6-7 years. Pennsylvania weather and steel...
Good quality. Used on several builds. Order proper OHMS for your ignition . Accel WAS good at one time. My last new Accel died in less than 1000 miles :BangHead:
