It’s been a while. They did them on billets. Chevies had some on forgings. Hard sell to most racers. 3.75+ stroke super light SBC’s could be had on special order. Usually sprint cars and virtually all nascar and road race billets.
Use to work for SCAT SALES/ENGINE TECH. Sometimes a crank with center counterweights can stop web cracks. It affects the middle 3 usually. Your firing order 18436572 has 4/3 firing on the same main. If there was even the slightest bit of crossover spark in the cap then 3 would fire way soon...
Just a question. When I would get a 400 sbc with limited air flow and 11 or 12-1 compression I would usually install a pretty good sized cam 260 to 270 @50 with very tight LC. 105 or 106. Then put it in on a 100 or 99 ICL. For a sub 6500 rpm motor with less than 300cfm per runner it really...
I have the 452;s on my 63 Polara 440 with a 750 dp on a RPM, CNC Stealths, Isky 292-242@50 108LSA. Flat tops with .039 gasket. 3000 stall and 2.94 gears. So yes it’s not a beast with these gears. But hit the pedal hard and 1st is a smoke show. Great fit with p/s.
I’ve heard that someone is making panels again. I’ve got room to store them now but don’t know who it was stamping them out now. I’m gonna need all 5 panels to make it solid.
Mines at 10.5 with a 242@050 cam. My CNC stealths don’t flow that well so it runs great on 93. If I had TF 270s then my cylinder fill might have upped the effective CR. Has a malt shop rumble though. Your car is just off the charts awesome.
Got moved to North Carolina finally. Found a guy to work on my car. Installing a later year rear end with flanged axles and we hope the posi is in good shape. New heater/defroster is needed. It was 20 here. Installing rubbers and doing some rust repairs on the A pillar. Supposed to be a 323. Old...
76 440 out of a motorhome. Cast crank. Speed Pro 2355 030. Clevite rod and mains. Billet t chain set. Stock 452 heads all fresh. Comp 224@050 cam. Rpm with a 600 eddy carb. It was a basic rebuild with good parts. Now it’s cnc stealths, Isky 292 mega cam, full msd system headers and a 750 DP...
The PO didn’t remember what bolts his builder used. All I have is this one picture when my guy checked some bearings and confirmed it was balanced. This is an older build. Maybe 8 to 10 years ago. It spins 5500 easily and is smooth as glass.
Thanks guys.
Bob.
