I'm guessing overheated clutches and the amount of coordination required were the downfall. Definitely too many things for my brain to keep track of.

Overheated clutches wouldn't be good.

Back in the day some tracks have a sloped starting line and some stick shift cars would roll at. the line and go red

I use to heel and toe the gas pedal/brake. Heel gas toe the brake. Worked pretty good if the gas return spring was not a double.
