I'm in the process of pulling the 904 out of my 72 Coronet Wagon to replace it. At the rear of the unit by the yoke is this big round metal thing on a bracket. It's a pretty significant chunk of metal. Anyone know what it's for, and if it needs to go back on the 42RH I'm installing?

Tonight's update. I got started on the trans swap starting with draining the old unit. What a mess. There is a reason I'm going to put a different pan on the new one, with a drain plug. Yes I realize I will only pull this pan once every few years, but I don't care. It's a super sloppy PITA doing...

I'm not sure how a 72 stacks up against a 66-67, but mine has a Big *** End. I'm running 255-60/15 and still have tons of room on both sides. I'm moving to 275-60/15 with no concerns.

Which seals did you find? The long curved one that seals the upper half and sides, or the straight ones that seal the flat bottom edge?
