Nice, that practice will help a ton. I was spraying ash gold on my 68 Buick and it looks like a very similar color to the GY3. I love how it changes color with different lighting. Once I adjusted my spray pattern to have less material and finer droplets, and started gong to a 70-75% overlap and...
Have you done much car painting before? Keep in mind the difficulty with high metallics. Your latest spray out card looks like you have some mottling going on. Also keep in mind as you need to spray the whole exterior of the car at once with a high metallic to get it to look right. You have to...
Ok, if you don't want to use a 2k product then still get rid of all rust and then use the SEM self etching primer like AR67GTX said or VHT, or rustoleum. The 2k epoxy primers in a spray can are not much more expensive than that though. If you want your repair or touchup to last use epoxy. I did...
:fool:
Hard to know what you are wanting help with? Get rid of surface rust with phosphoric acid, and then epoxy prime and then paint. Spending the money on epoxy primer is well worth it.
wow very cool! Thank you for finding that out. I think I'll still give that number a call. We will be staying at Sams Town. I know it's not really in the thick of things but Vegas still just makes me nervous.
MATS has been my favorite event to go to for a few years now. I finally may be able to bring one of my cars. It is a survivor/project car that I would prefer not to have to drive back and forth to the hotel in Vegas each night. Does anyone know if its commonplace to park your car at the show...
There's nothing better than a triple green muscle car! Your New Yorker is one stylin machine, nice! I'm in my mid 30s and have been lucky enough to score this green Pontiac Tempest that I daily drive quite a bit. I nearly started painting my 70 Bee project green, but since it still has its...
You make a good point. I wish I lived closer to the F.A.S.T events. I would love to check those cars out and watch them run! I bet nearly every one of them has had the edge of the quarter panel welded up at some point. It is a known issue with these cars, I just wouldn't be willing to put more...
In my opinion the stock drivetrain pushed these cars too far, especially A12 cars. The cars that got driven hard got twisted a little and have the crack on the top front edge of the quarter panel. If you have a nicely restored car that does not have any reinforcing done to it than why would you...
I would start by removing the interior panel and feel in there to see if there is any dirt/leaves etc. Then blow it out real good and spray eastwood internal frame coating in there if you want to try and hold it longer. Spray the internal frame coating such that it starts running out of the...
That's awesome! I love the steel wheel look but am battling a vibration with one of my OE steel wheels on one of my other old cars. I may have to get a bubble balancer. They look so simple I have been skeptical. My next thing that I am going to try is to get a road force balance done. If I can...
Agreed. If the OP wants it bad enough he can fix that car! There have been worse looking chargers that have been brought back, although they do take a very long time to get done. If I were the OP, and in the interest of having fun with an old muscle car I would sell it and use that money to get...
You can fix it! Looks like doing a whole front clip swap would be your best choice. I have a pretty decent whole front clip on a 70 coronet 4 door I would potentially sell if you are interested. Look up build threads by Kern Dog on his Jigsaw charger, he goes into good detail and fixed similar...
For sure, I bet it would be worth the wait and cost if you can the AMD panels. Yeah ditch the strip discs, I use 80 grit and 120 grit discs and I keep them moving as to not chew on the metal too much on the edges, etc. These cars have thin and wobbly panels and it can be difficult to get them...
