This is completely awesome. Thank you for taking the time to illustrate and explain what the problem was and the repair steps.
How many are just tossed away!
Not sure about the speedo....but I just replaced the Clock with a tictoktach....it was easy to do without removing the dash. 3 screws and it came right out. Yes...I was on my back looing up. Seat still in. But it was doable for sure. I also read I had to remove the dash to do the tach.
I think I used Tremclad oil based clear.
I wire wheel the fasteners, then soak/brush them in Rubbing Alcohol to remove all the grease/oils. Then toss them in the Oxide. I use pliers to remove them, dry them immediately with compressed air, them spray them.
I have used this on some fasteners. It works really well to darken the parts. I have sometimes sprayed them with oil based flat clear after dipping to keep them from getting rusty long term. Looks very close to oil. The oil works great too. Just not as long.
I have used a single hole gasket.....and every time i gave it a shot of gas it whistled. I chocked it up to air moving between the carb and the manifold. Put the 4 hole gasket on and it dissappeared
I will second the choke comment....if that engine is warm....your choke is all wrong.
For the whistling....start removing hoses 1 by one and capping the input. That will rule out any hoses. Don't forget to do the choke pull off diaphragm hose.
Did you change a base gasket?
Use a stethoscope...
Good Day All,
The stock Chrysler radio in my 69 Charger has an issue. The tuning thumbwheel turns but the tuning needle does not move...consistently. It slips per say. The preset buttons work perfect, sounds good, everything else is fine.
I am assuming there is some type of belt or cord in...
