I wouldn’t have expected that. I just crawled under my one car that spent the winter in a trailer, no surface rust to that extent, although mine sure do need a good polishing.
So are they going back for re-coat?
They look a touch far back but keep in mind that those 29” SR’s are actually at best 28-1/4” in height.
If you were to bolt on a slick measuring 30.5” you’d need that room.

I may have been down your road recently with regards to a different distributor. On my Hemi Dart I replaced my MSD Distributor with another performance one with the vacuum advance. I connected it to manifold vacuum so that I had full vacuum advance at idle. I locked the mechanical advance out...
Good that it’s home now and that there’s no issues. The numbers will come around, that’s for sure and I’m looking forward to following along on the next thread.
On my parts chaser it has green bearings too, with the right side seeping. I did the silicone job on it once so far, think it needs it again. That’ll be a spring thing.
