First up, 440's have a tendency to pull a bunch of oil to the top of the engine at higher rpm. So increased oil capacity is my first mod if pushing beyond 5500 on a regular basis.
With a stock port window head, heavy (Stock or TRW) pistons, and a mild cam, you will probably find anything over...
Yes, still for sale. Judging from the reception I've gotten from the two places I've posted it, it will be for some time! 3 requests for pictures, other than that, crickets. If it was the only old Mopar I had, I would simply start throwing money at it until I finished it, But I have three others...
Just no interest or what? I need to move this thing because it's stealing money and time from my other projects. I want to make improvements and repairs because it's just fun to drive. It needs tlc, but you can do it in stages and still enjoy the car. I've decided to redo the front seats next...
Tired of it in six months? What are the rear tires that are on it now? My trusty CID calculator says .060 over is 4.380 X 1/2 stroke 4.250=512 inches, so the 558 has me confused. That being said, it's a stunning example of the breed, and certainly priced right!
The '66 went 11.37-104, lifting, 11.481-118.43, and a pair of 11.49s during drag week this year, so it's already faster than legal without a bar.
The '67 has went 11.58-114.5, so it's pretty much in the same boat. While both cars need plenty of improvement, going faster is not necessarily in...
There were around 81,000 2dr 66 Plymouths, Belvedere and Satellite, built 47 years ago. Then there were like 750,000 440s built from 66-78 in everything Mopar put out. So over the years, how many of those 440's ended up between the frame rails of those Belvederes? My experience is, thousands...
Dad became a Mopar man when the first B-bodies starting asserting their dominance on the Drag Strips and high banks, he bought a brand new 1966 Satellite with a 383 4 speed. My 3 younger brothers and I attended our first drag race with our own car in 1984. Since that day I've owned more than 45...
All 3 are currently mine, although the 66 is for sale. Also a pair of 67 Barracudas....I need intervention. Actually I'm slowly getting older cars, I've sold/ traded off 3 70 E-Bodies in the last couple of years.
I would just pick up the BB with the yoke, and swap the guts/tailshaft from your small block unit, Unless you intend to sell the small block transmission. The only difference is the case/bellhousing.
Originally a 383 4 speed car, driver /Hot Rod, but is not cut up. In Phoenix, reliable enough to drive anywhere.
